The inaugural
Penguin student Book awards provided the challenge of
creating a series of covers for their ‘Classic’ collection.
Georgia produced three covers (Thomas Hardy’s Tess of
the D’Urbervilles, shown right) all of which challenged
the conventions by removing all copy from the cover.
In fact, she removed everything, as the white cover
contains a die-cut, with only the wallpaper image, on
the inside page showing through. She was awarded second
prize in this national competition and is now currently
working in Oxford for the design consultancy Freeman
Christie.
